Panoramic view of the entrance of the Kuwait Pavilion at EXPO Milano 2015 designed as Kuwaiti sails. #263196885
Description
Milan, Italy - June 30, 2015: The Kuwait pavilion, designed by the architect Italo Rota and engineered by Nussli Italia, is inspired by the Kuwaiti sails of the traditional Dhow boats still in use in the waters of the Arabian Gulf and by the surfaces of Kuwait`s greenhouses and hydroponic agricultural systems.Steel cladding and high-tech membranes were used for construction of the pavilion. For the central body of the Kuwait pavilion, the saddle of the sails is made up of a single panel whose shape was calculated with a shape research program to identify the exact tension to be applied so that it assumes the required geometry.
