Fish ponds for cultivation purposes are common in monasteries, Islamic boarding schools, palaces and other communities that are able to subsistencely support the people in them.Fish ponds are recommended by FAO to be developed in poor and developing countries because they are able to provide food, sources of income, sources of irrigation water, and drinking water for livestock.
