Description
William Haas, originally from Bavaria, came to San Francisco about 1868, at age 20, and quickly became a successful business man.When he married, in 1880, to Bertha Greenbaum, whose family is also from Bavaria, when they were ready to have this home built in 1886, in the Queen Anne Style, the architect was also Bavarian.William and Bertha raised their three children in this house, the youngest, Alice, who married Samuel Lilienthal, raised her own family in this house also.After Alice died, after almost eight years living in this one house, in 1972, her children donated it to the San Francisco Architectural Heritage now the San Francisco Heritage the only intact, private residence and museum Victorian open to the public, in the city.As seen 7 December 2022.
