Birds and urban environments. Quiscalus mexicanus, male. Guatemala City. #263859234
Description
This is a Quiscalus mexicanus bird species, Icteridae family. Common name: great-tailed grackle or Mexican grackle. Great-tailed grackles originated from the tropical lowlands of Central and South America, range expanded to North America. Males are iridescent black with a purple-blue sheen on the feathers of the head and upper body. Adults of both sexes have bright yellow eyes. Observed near Guatemala City. The great-tailed grackle easily adapts to any environment. It is a very common bird in Guatemala City and all around the country. I like this minimalist and powerful composition. Just three elements combined. The blue, the black, the gray. Vertical line, opposited diagonal lines, bird vs building corner. Nature vs humans.
