Description
This is a female Quiscalus mexicanus bird species, Icteridae family. Common name: great-tailed grackle or Mexican grackle. Great-tailed grackles originated from the tropical lowlands of Central and South America, range expanded to North America. Males are iridescent black with a purple-blue sheen on the feathers of the head and upper body. Females have completely brown feathers. Adults of both sexes have bright yellow eyes. Observed near Maya Biosphere Reserve (MBR), Petén department, Guatemala.
