Description
Pictured is a 76-foot statue known as the `Golden Driller` outside the Tulsa Expo Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The statue of an oil worker was created for the International Petroleum Exposition by Mid-Continent Supply Company in 1953. It was scheduled for demolition due to neglect and bullet holes in 1979, abandoned by its manufacturer. The City of Tulsa came to the rescue preserving the Golden Driller and making it the official state monument of Oklahoma. The 43,5000 pound tourist attraction is the largest free-standing statue in the world.
