Pictured is the Glidewell Well Curb at Josey Ranch Lake Library in Carrollton, Texas. Benjamin Franklin Glidewell was born in Clinton County, Kentucky on December 5, 1865. He traveled to Texas and bought a farm that contained this well curb. While the actual age of the well curb is unknown, it was most likely poured in the late 1800s to early 1900s. After Mr. Glidewell’s death the farm was sold and resold with plans to clear the land. Jack Blanton, a former Carrollton Mayor and Texas State Representative. Blanton died in 2002 and his widow Marian realized the historical significance of the well curb and donated the artifact to the City of Carrollton.  It is now part of the public art collection of Carrollton.
