Description
Air Defences - Aeroplane detector devised during the Great War / WW1. It caught the faintest sounds from the direction in which it was turned, and by means of mircrophones carried them through listening tubes to the observer. An acoustic locator, vaguely resembling a tuba, used by Japan during the World Wars to provide early warning of incoming aircraft.
