Description
This massive intricately hand-carved oak panel originally stood over the fireplace of Edgemont, the home of Julian F, Detmer. It is a copy of the panel that is described in the Victoria and Albert Museum. However, it has as its crest a sheep, instead of a lion. Mr. Detmer was known as the Woolen King.The center shows the arms of King James 1 of England. Other section show the arms of England, France, Scotland and Ireland.The central shield is encircled with the words `Honi soit qui mal y pense - evil to him who evil thinks.
