Pictured is a bronze statue on a granite base of James William Fulbright in the courtyard of the Main on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville. The sculpture was dedicated October 21st, 2002 with a speech by fellow Arkansan Bill Clinton. Fulbright was an American politician, academic, and statesman who represented Arkansas in the United States Senate from 1945 until his resignation in 1974. He earned a history degree from the University of Arkansas in 1925. He was a Rhodes Scholar at Pembroke College and graduated in 1928. He earned a law degree from the George Washington University Law School in 1934. He as appointed president of the University of Arkansas in 1939, making him the youngest university president in the country.
