Mimosa pudica is a short shrub belonging to the legume tribe which is easily recognized because of its leaves which can quickly close/wither on their own when touched. Although some members of the leguminous species can do the same thing, the shy daughter reacts more quickly than the other species. This wilting is temporary because after a few minutes the situation will recover as before.
