Richard Belzer At The 2013 Tribeca Film Festival In New York City Editorial Image

Stand-up comedian, actor, and author Richard Belzer arrives on the red carpet for the world premiere of "Mistaken for Strangers," marking the formal kickoff of the 12 Annual Tribeca Film Festival at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center of the Borough of Manhattan Community College on April 17, 2013. Belzer played the same role, Detective John Munch, in 22 straight years: 7 as part of the Baltimore Police Department, and then 15 years as part of the New York Police Department. He died on February 19, 2023, in the south of France, from complications from circulatory and respiratory maladies, at the age of 78.
