Tapak dara is an annual shrub originating from Madagascar, but has spread to other tropical regions. Its scientific name is Catharanthus roseus Don. In Indonesia, this ornamental garden plant is known by various names, such as sindapor & x28;Sulawesi& x29;, copper flower & x28;Sundanese& x29;, and tapak dårå flower & x28;Javanese& x29;. Malaysians also know it as Chinese kemunting, road grass tree, Chinese flower tree, or beach rose tree.
