Pictured is a relief in memory of Oklahoma University track star and coach John 'Jake' Jacobs on the campus of Oklahoma University in Norman. He coached the track team for 45 seasons from 1925 through 1968. Jacobs arrived at the University of Oklahoma as a collegiate track and field athlete in 1911 and quickly became a track and field sensation. He ran the hurdles and was the leadoff man on the mile relay team. He also competed in the high jump and the broad jump, now known as the long jump. He died in 1978.
