Guangzhou: 23rd April 2019: The Temple of the Six Banyan Trees (also known as Liurong Temple) is a Buddhist temple located in Guangzhou,China. It is one of the most famous temples in the city and has a history dating back over 1,400 years.The temple was first built in 537 during the Liang Dynasty,but has been rebuilt several times since then. The current temple was built in 1900,during the Qing Dynasty,and has undergone several renovations since then.The name of the temple,"Six Banyan Trees," comes from six banyan trees that used to grow on the temple grounds. Although the original trees are no longer there,there are still many other banyan trees on the temple grounds,some of which are over 1,000 years old.The temple is home to several important Buddhist relics,including a 17.7-meter-high Flower Pagoda (also known as the Pagoda of Six Banyan Trees),which was built during the Northern Song Dynasty. The pagoda is a symbol of Guangzhou and is considered one of the most important pagodas in China.The temple also houses a large collection of Buddhist statues,including a bronze statue of the Buddha,which is over 1,000 years old. Visitors can also see several ancient Buddhist scriptures and artifacts in the temple's museum.Today,the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees is a popular tourist attraction and a place of worship for Buddhists.
