The harpy bird is a mythical creature often described as having the body of a bird, the face of a woman, and sharp claws. In Greek mythology, harpies were wind spirits with the power of flight and were said to be the children of the sea god Thaumas and the goddess of wind and air, Iris. They were often portrayed as being both beautiful and fierce, capable of using their sharp claws to snatch food from unsuspecting mortals.
