San Francisco's Schoenstein Organ and Pipe Company is the oldest and largest organ factory in the whole West Coast of the United States,with a history going back to 1840's Germany when Leo Schoenstein started building organs. By 1868,his sons Felix and Leo were in San Francisco,installing an organ for a beer garden. Felix was working for another organ builder for a while,before starting his own company. Three of his own sons continued this business,installing,rebuilding and maintaining organs for many churches,theaters and even homes across the country. Although the company was sold and moved across the Bay to Benicia,they are still very much in business,and this building is now the home of a high tech firm. As seen 1 February 2023.
