Kingfishers are colorful birds belonging to the family Alcedinidae. They are found all around the world in freshwater habitats such as lakes, ponds, rivers and marshes. Kingfishers have razor-sharp beaks which they use to catch their prey including fish, frogs, insects and even small birds. They are known for their distinctive loud, piercing call and their bright plumage which ranges from vibrant blues, greens and orange to browns and blacks.
