Rimetea lies in the Apuseni Mountains of central Transylvania, in a valley 23 kilometres (14 miles) north of Aiud. The village rests at an altitude of 650 metres (2,130 feet),[5] on the banks of the river Rimetea. It is nestled between the peaks of Piatra Secuiului (1,128 m (3,701 ft)) and Arda?cheia (1,250 m (4,100 ft)), in the Trasc?u Mountains.
