Description
Spotted owlet (Athene brama) is a small stocky owl that breeds in tropical Asia from mainland India to Southeast Asia. Classified under family Strigidae, it inhabits open habitats including farmland and human habitation and has adapted to living in cities. Roosts in small groups and nests in tree holes, rock cavities or crevices in buildings. Its upperparts are grey-brown, heavily spotted with white, while underparts are white, streaked with brown. The facial disc is pale and the iris is yellow. There is a white neckband and supercilium.
