Description
Moluccan eclectus (Eclectus roratus) is a parrot native to the Maluku Islands (Moluccas). Member of the family Psittaculidae it is unusual in the parrot family for its extreme sexual dimorphism of the colours of the plumage males mostly have bright emerald green plumage with a yellow-tinge on the head, blue primaries, red flanks and underwing coverts. Adult maleâs upper mandible is orange at the base fading to a yellow towards the tip, and the lower mandible is black. Adult females are mostly bright red and purple blue with their beak all black.
