Description
The national park consists of 16 lakes connected by waterfalls and cascades. The lakes have different water colours, from dark blue to green to light turquoise. The karst lakes are terraced and connected by streams. There are 140 waterfalls, 20 caves and rifts. The area of the park is 29 482 ha, of which 200 ha is the surface of the lakes. On 8 April 1949, the national park was established to protect the unique cascade (elevation 156 m) and in 1979 it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage.
