Entering road to the Dobo Mansion in Levice #272951116
Description
The Dobó Castle is located in the complex of Levice Castle. It is a two-story Renaissance building, built by Stefan Dobó. Dobó became famous for his wars against the Turks. However, his son František completed the castle in 1571. It is the most extensive object in the castle complex, which is currently one of the best-preserved fortification complexes from the 16th century in southern Slovakia. The castle also included a drawbridge over a (unusually wide) water moat. Nowadays, the moat area is home to a castle park. The castle building serves as a depository and exhibition space for the Tekov Museum in Levice.
