Title
Groin Groyne Ocean Beach Hatteras NC #27402582
Description
Coastal engineering versus erosion. This groin/groyne on the Outer Beaches of North Carolina east coast seashore is a rigid man-made structure built from ocean shore to trap sand on the updrift side, limiting movement of sediment. Unfortunately, this physical barrier also causes erosion on the downdrift side. Taken in the pre-dawn hour mid October.
