Description
Melastoma malabathricum, also known as Malabar melastome, Indian rhododendron, Singaporean rhododendron, planter& x27;s rhododendron and senduduk, is a flowering plant in the Melastomataceae family. Despite its common name, it bears no relation whatsoever to the true rhododendron, and belongs to the clade Rosids as opposed to the clade Asterids. It is native to Indomalaya, Japan and Australia, and is usually found at altitudes between 100 m and 2800 m in grassland and sparse forest habitats.
