Description
One of the earliest middle class suburbs in San Francisco is Liberty Hill in The Mission District. Built in the 19th century, this little neighborhood escaped the devastating earthquake and fire of 1906 that destroyed most of the rest of the city. Because it still contains intact Classical Revival architecture of the period,it was designated an historic district. Italianate style architecture is patterned after the Italian style of the Renaissance, first popularized in England in the 18th century. This two story home was built in 1902 for coal dealer Marsden Kershaw.
