Kawa Daun Served in a Coconut Shell Cup #276503065
Description
Kawa daun is reported to have first appeared during the Dutch Colonial era. West Sumatran residents used to be forbidden from drinking coffee since it was regarded as a drink in some quarters. While the colonizers made the locals labor arduously to cultivate coffee for trade. To quench their thirst and boost their energy while working, the residents of West Sumatra at the time exclusively ate the coffee leaves. Since then, people have continued to drink kawa daun as tradition. The Arabic word "qahwah" (which means coffee) is the name's original source. West Sumatran residents changed it into kawa daun, and it has since been in use ever since. For coffee, Kawa daun is distinctive.
