Description
The Greater Sage-Grouse is a large bird native to the western United States. They are known for their elaborate courtship displays, which involve males puffing up their chests and fanning out their tail feathers to attract females. These birds are also important indicators of the health of sagebrush ecosystems, as they rely on this habitat for food and shelter. Unfortunately, their populations have declined due to habitat loss and fragmentation, as well as threats from predators and disease. Conservation efforts are underway to protect and restore sagebrush habitat and ensure the survival of this iconic species.
