Abraham Goodman,who bought the building behind these flats on the Geary Street side,realized there was a sudden need for both commercial and residential spaces following the 1906 Earthquake and Fire. This was mostly needed in the area on the city East of Van Ness,which suffered the greatest damage.Goodman built these eight Myrtle Street Flats to fill that need. Although he was not alone,these are the only surviving buildings from this time period. As seen 28 December 2022.
