Beach Chalet Golden Gate Park San Francisco 1 #277133135
Description
The Spanish Colonial Revival Beach Chalet in Golden Gate Park is actually the replacement for the original Park Chalet that was across the street since 1892. Designed by Willis Polk and opened in 1925,there were changing rooms for beach goers downstairs and a city operated restaurant was upstairs. All around the inside are murals and carvings done by artists members of the Work Progress Administration,WPA. These paintings depict real people and events from San Francisco of the period. After being left abandoned for many years,it required more years to refurbish but it finally reopened in 1996 with a restaurant and brewery upstairs with a separate restaurant downstairs overlooking the park. As seen 29 April 2023.
