Municipality of the historical Priorat. The municipal term has 28.54 km² and extends almost throughout the valley of the Cortiella river, which rises in the neighboring term of La Alforja and runs transversally from east to west in the middle of the term until it flows into the Siurana river. The northern sector is rugged by the mountains of the Sierra del Molló. Practically all the term is formed by paleozoic rocks, covered before with vines, very reduced since the appearance of the "fil.loxera".
