His long, matted hair cascades down his shoulders, and he wears a crescent moon on his forehead, representing the cycle of time and the cosmic order. His third eye, located in the center of his forehead, is closed most of the time, but when opened, it unleashes a powerful beam of light that can destroy anything in its path, representing his supreme wisdom and insight. Lord Shiva's eyes are often depicted as half-open, signifying his state of deep meditation and introspection.
