Pictured is a fragment of a fresco with Saint Roch by Bartolomeo della Gatta in the San Domenico Church in Cortona, Italy. Three of his attributes are depicted, his pilgrim's hat and staff and the wound on his left thigh. He is invoked against cholera, epidemics, the plaque and skin diseases. He is a patron saint of dogs, invalids, falsely. accused people, bachelors, and several other things. Bartolomeo della Gatta, also known as Bartolomeo di Giovanni Corradini, was an Italian painter and architect who lived during the 15th century. San Domenico is a Gothic-style, Roman Catholic church located on via Berrettini. It was built beginning in 1230 and the new church we see today was completed in 1438, with a major refurbishment in the 1590s.
