great fountain in the Saxon Garden, Warsaw #281060790
Description
The fountain was created in 1855 in connection with the construction of the first water supply system in the city (the so-called Marconi waterworks). The fountain consists of a large platter, cast in cast iron at the Government Machine Factory in Solec, and a bowl with bas-reliefs in the form of heads. The whole thing stands in two stone tubs, the outer of which is slightly lower, and it is on its edge that four zinc dolphins are placed, throwing water towards the center of the fountain. Dolphins designed by Herman Fritsch were made in the Warsaw factory of Karol Juliusz Minter. A sundial from the Antoni Magier foundation was placed next to the fountain
