Title
Cluster of mushrooms after a spring rain in the FingerLakes NYS #281451669
Description
After a few days of wet spring weather these mushrooms popped out underneath mature woodland trees on Cornell Botanical Gardens in Ithaca NYS FingerLakes. The forest floor, also called detritus or duff, is the part of a forest ecosystem that mediates between the living, aboveground portion of the forest and the mineral soil, principally composed of dead and decaying plant matter such as rotting wood and shed leaves. The forest floor is where recycling occurs, fungi, insects, bacteria, and earthworms exist.
