A workless Cambodian barber in his shop in Battanbang cleans his ear with a long object while waiting for clients. He looks apathetically into a mirror and talks to his friends who seat at the floor. The atmosphere is slow and lethargic here. The barber shop is situated near an old colonial train station, not operational anymore. People adapted buildings of the station for their homes and shops. The train station area has now different and new function. Old colonial architecture attracts tourists, but local inhabitants have few direct benefits from their settlement in this tourist spot.
