Lavendar Lupine, Purple Penstemon, and Goldem Balsamroot and many more species of spring wildflowers dot the Horse Heaven Hills with a view of the Rattlesnake hills and Yakima Valley in the distance. The hills are home to threatened and rare plant and animal species and are becoming threatened themselves due to thoughtless recreational use by atv's and off-road vehicles while a worse threat looms on their horizon: a wind farm development.
