Description
Pictured is the memorial monument dedicated to King Umberto I by Guiseppe Romagnoli on the facade of the Town Hall in Bologna, Italy. It was originally placed in 1909 but the marble parts were destroyed in 1943 and the bronzes moved first to the Villa delle Rose in 1945 and then in a courtyard of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. Thanks to the financial contribution of Francesco Amante the marble plaque was completely rebuilt, the bronzes restored and the memorial returned to the front facade of the d'Accursio Palace just to the right of the entrance door in 2019. The two bronzes represent the Amor Patrio and the Military Value.
