San Franciscos only true American Cvil War project,Fort Point,was finished February 1861,just a couple months before the opening battle on Fort Sumter,South Carolina. Fortunately for San Francisco,the attack on Fort Sumter showed this type of brick construction was now obsolete,this one building has remained beautifully unchanged since completion.
