945 Battery Street San Francisco #285561704
Description
San Francisco being an important coastal shipping city as well as the Transcontinental Railroad city, meant a lot of cargo was passing through this city inbound and outbound,on a regular basis, going back to the Gold Rush era. All this cargo needed storage space while waiting transport to their final destination. A lot of warehouses were built for this purpose, quickly and cheaply, which meant brick and mortar. Not being earthquake safe, many of these buildings did not survive the earthquakes of 1906 or 1989. This building at 945 Battery Street, built in 1903,did manage to survive, and is a today modern office building. As seen 27 March 2018.
