Pictured is a marble water basin and plaque inside the Basilica of Sant Appolinare Nuovo in Ravena, Italy. The top half of the inscribed plaque reads 'King Theoderic built this church from the foundations in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ'. The Ostrogothic king Theodoric the Great erected the church as his palace chapel during the first quarter of the 6th century. The Arian church was originally dedicated in 505 AD to Christ the Redeemer.
