Pictured is a medallion on the monumental sculpture of Luigi Galvani in the Luigi Galvani Square in Bologna, Italy. The medallion honors the telegraphers of every nation in the first centenary of the battery. The sculptor was Adalberto Cencetti, an Italian sculptor who was born in 1847 and died in 1907. The sculpture was completed in 1879. Galvani was an Italian physician, physicist, biologist and philosopher, who studied animal electricity. In 1780, he discovered that the muscles of dead frogs' legs twitched when struck by an electrical spark.
