Description
Rametului Gorges is a protected area of national interest - mixed nature reserve, located in the east of the Trascau Mountains, Alba county, not far from the Ramet Monastery. The nature reserve represents two massifs excavated in Jurassic Mesozoic limestones (marls, conglomerate sandstones, basalts), an area of gorges, with many karst forms (sinkholes, towers, caves, massifs of grohotis, towers, ridges), surrounded by forests, meadows and pastures. Underground traffic is quite active within the reserve. The reserve is crossed by the Geoagiu (Manastirii) river which crosses the Cheile Rametului and collects the Bradesti and Pravului streams to the west and the Vulturlui stream to the southeast, as well as other smaller streams with temporary discharge.
