Description
The Valisoara Gorges (also called the Aiudului Gorges or the Poienii Gorges) make up a protected area of national interest, a botanical and geo-morphological nature reserve, located in the east of the Trascau Mountains, in the southern part of the Rimetea Depression, Alba county. The reserve is an important tourist attraction, here are the ruins of the medieval fortress of Trascau, the church of the monastery in Magina, the village of Rimetea and its ethnographic museum, the natural reserves Cheile Plaiului near the village of Izvoarele, Cheile Silosului, Vanatarile Ponorului, Huda lui Papara, Pestera Poarta Zmeilor (Grosi Cave) and Piatra Secuiului (whose northern part is also called Coltii Trascaului).
