Description
In January 1964, in Leningrad, in the square of house No. 52 on Sadovaya Street, a stele was erected in memory of the soldiers of the October Division of the People's Militia. The overall composition was created by architect V. Yu. Mileykovsky. 5 sculptors also worked on the monument: N. S. Kochukov, V. I. Tatarovich, G. D. Yastrebenetsky, A.M. Ignatiev, N. A. Teplov.From this place, on September 4, 1941, the militia soldiers of the Oktyabrsky district went into battle for our Homeland, for Leningrad.The monument is a five-meter granite stele with a carved relief image and three granite pyramids in the form of anti-tank gouges. The stele is made of gray unpolished granite. The profiles of the faces of a soldier, a militia member and a female nurse are carved on the front part. Under the image there is an inscription: "To the soldiers of the October division of the People's militia from the workers of the district. January 1964".
