Paragliding and its cousin hang gliding are off chutes of parachuting,it's their design and use that sets one apart from the other. With parachuting the primary purpose is to safely slow your ascent,with both paragliding and hang gliding you are actually flying. The main difference here being,with the hang gliding you lay flat out and have a more ridged frame and sail,while paragliding you sit in a harness and have a flexible sail. They can all be enjoyed as just plain fun,but they also have international competition for the real enthusiasts. As seen over Southern California Coast 28 May 2023.
