There are a lot of impressive looking trees in the world,but the banyan tree is one of the most awe-inspiring. Banyans can be found throughout Maui,but the largest and oldest banyan tree in Hawaii,and in the US,is in the city of Lahaina.The banyan tree in Lahaina,in Maui,Hawaii,United States,was planted on April 24,1873 to mark the 50th anniversary of the arrival of first American Protestant mission. Photo is prior to the August 2023 fire that burned the town of Lahaina to the ground with significant loss of life and property. The tree has come to symbolize hope for the future of Lahaina.
