Bernal Heights Hill Microwave Tower San Francisco 2 #288235598
Description
Going back to 1876 with Alexander Bells invention of the telephone, there has been constant improvements on both the phone itself and the forms of connection between the phones. This microwave tower on the top of the Bernal Heights Hill, which is used for modern cell phone call transmission,is one example of the improvements on the transmissions side. These do not need poles with wire strung between to connect the different peoples,as the singles are sent over the air instead. But with the curvature of the earth, they need to be within about 30 miles (48.28 K) of each other. Although this tower does not have any official name, the local residents here affectionately refer to this one as 'Sutrito' because it looks like a shorter version of the Sutro Tower on Twin Peaks.
