The Süleymaniye Mosque, located on the Third Hill in Istanbul, Turkey, is an Ottoman imperial mosque. It was commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent and designed by the famous architect Mimar Sinan. Next to the wall of the qibla is an enclosure that houses the octagonal mausoleums of Suleiman the Magnificent and his wife, Hurrem Sultan (Roxelana). Renowned as an Istanbul landmark, the mosque's elevated position on the Third Hill offers a wide panoramic view of the city, including the Golden Horn.
