White fat cells are unique and specialized round cells with a remarkable ability to accumulate fats in the shape of triacylglycerides. This stored fat can later be released as fatty acids when the body requires high levels of energy due to increased metabolism (like during exercise) or when there's a shortage of energy (as in cases of reduced food intake).
